According to at least 10 top tier players, Edwin is a top 5 hero. Why? Because of consistency. Following a low curve and forcing shield comps is nearly always a top 5 placement (and almost always top 4). Given Mecharel/Omega buster are cards, this can often snowball into real top-1 comps. And even without, double deflect-o-bot is a workhorse. It may not be flashy, but it sure is easy MMR.
