A critique of Bioshock 2. Where Bioshock 1 lampoons Ayn Rand’s objectivism, Bioshock 2 is inspired by Jim Jones, The People’s Temple, and Collectivism. The game is hyperfocussed on flipping the original Bioshock on its head and looking at the underbelly of the philosophies that crystallised it.
So let’s return to Rapture and ask what happens after a group warped by hyper-capitalism finds a new philosophy. What happens after they drink the Kool-Aid?
