Blizzard released yet another Storm Rising Archives Mission teaser, quickly showing off the rendered version of Maximilien confirming that he is indeed the target of the mission and also implying some gameplay elements. With a car convoy, tracking down the mob boss, I mean Talon accountant is probably an element, not to mention the map should be a payload when it enters the normal game. What’s more interesting though, is the perhaps secret messaging hidden within the text transitions of the Storm Rising Archives that either are a message of some sort ,or perhaps a hint towards whomever is behind hacking the Archives database to begin with. Remember, we’re only going back to revisit the past because someone has been hacking and decrypting the old Overwatch archives files, but WHO was behind that hasn’t been clear, perhaps this ‘translation’ transition may indicate the country of origin of that character or organization. Interesting stuff! In other news we wanted to take the opportunity to discuss and update how the balance of the game has been moving. On the backs of buffs to all-in comps like Wrecking ball multi DPS and Orisa bunker with Bastion and Baptiste immortality field, there finally is finally a more easy route to power than simply “GO all Tanks And Supports (GOATS) … This is great for gameplay diversity and chaos, but may not be for you if you long for the simpler days when soft counters and playstyles matter more than rock paper scissors counters (sorry Seagul). This all surrounds the big knockback changes as well, which redefined tank play in a major way, making it harder to dive Bunker, but also making tank play more crucial at the same time, buffing Wrecking Ball and equalizing the bias against Reinhardt who used to suffer worse than his other tank counterparts. All this power creep into each respective comp has made for a competitive triangle, however extremely map dependant, meaning you need the perfect ground to setup Orisa or swing with Wrecking Ball to then in turn unlock the other heroes who play alongside them, but hey at least it’s not 3-3 ALL the time, just over half lol… An interesting turn and at least a refreshing one!
