We’re likely seeing significant systems changes soon to Overwatch. Jeff has floated the benefits and consequences of 1-3-2 Role Queue, increases DPS slots to match the popularity of the role, but that sacrifices the Overwatch teamplay and combos perhaps to a degree that would make the gameplay unrecognizable to those of us who actually love 2-2-2. Conversely, Hero Bans are a solution that solves hero diversity in a way that may make other roles more popular. Because it’s not possible to make two similar kits EQUALLY powerful, one always dominates playtime even when the balance is VERY close. I’d say, patch 1.44 is such a patch, the power level between strategies are very close, which makes this patch a great one to play NOW, but perhaps even more interesting if a Ban system pushes the playerbase to play other heroes, even if it is just culturally enforced expectations of the meta.
