At the tail end of our interview with Jayne about his tests with the hero ban format we spoke briefly about ranked mode and although we have talked it to death on the channel recently, Jayne has such an eloquent solution we wanted to share it and signal boost it. We MUST split the queues to lean into solo queue esque play for ranked, BUT also provide a serious hardcore option, even if it only for certain timed events say on the weekends or something. With this combination of ideas that Jayne puts forth about ranked in 90 seconds, I’d say Jayne fixes Ranked entirely, as it will provide the experience that many somewhat-serious ranked players are looking for with solo queue mode as it is now, but also finally give us a place where team play can flourish and be developed, scaled for community that wants it (ie needing it to be a timed event so that the queue times can be focused).
